THE SHELTER SERIES

Smart Spaces Delivered™

We don’t buy cars by the pound, so why should we buy homes by the square footage?...this is the underlying design statement in the development of The Shelter Series homes.

We buy cars based on comfort, price, accessibility, features, uniqueness, and how well they address our needs, wants and desires. This is the same criteria we should base our home buying decisions on.

The thought behind the shelter series, and in particular the 640 home, revolves around a design that meets all of the fundamental criteria in a way that is progressive, affordable, and available in a bold architectural style. The space is sized to adequately accommodate the function while also allowing flexibility. The uses for the home include high density small lot urban & suburban infill, relief housing, student housing, auxiliary dwelling units, and specifically, affordable housing.

The lot for the Shelter 640 may be as small as 30'x60'. Looking at multiple units on split lots, the density is increased thus creating less impact on the site .

The challenges are apparent; the need for (real) affordable housing is obvious. Most small housing is still outside the price range of those in the most need. The intention of this concept is to address the affordability, livability and design style factors that many buyers desire.
