Options
In response to our clients unique needs, we specialize in providing custom options in design, size and included features. We are committed to putting together a Cabin Package that maximizes features at the best possible cost to you.
Below we have attempted to describe and roughly price many of our most frequent requests. The prices quoted reflect a stand alone cost. Our preference is to bundle the features, do a little "sharp pencil pricing," and give you the best possible deal on your cabin.
The main structure is designed in a standardized way and built with the use of building jigs which we use to reduce labor costs. We routinely expand or contract the cabin to meet individual requirements. Our building process supports this.
With the use of Computer Aided Design, we can make the Cabin wider or slimmer, add or subtract windows, and reconfigure the interior.
Creating your interior space: We designed our standard sizes to reflect general interior layouts.
Our standard cabin is 16’ deep. This is the depth of a generous room.
The office / studio / efficiency is 16 x 20 (see MM 16-20)
The 1-bedroom weekender is 16 x 28 (see MM 16-28)
The 1-bedroom live-aboard is 16 x 35 (see MM 16-35)
The 2-bedroom cabin-home is 16 x 50 or 16 x 60 with 2 bathrooms.
(see MM 16-50)
CUSTOM CABIN SIZES
Need more room? We can stretch the width to any reasonable size. (We can also stretch the depth).
We welcome working from a blank slate to give our customers exactly what they want.
There is a certain appeal to a living space made up of individual Cabins. We share this interest. In multi-cabin living, The Cabins can be joined by a deck or a short hallway. Look at some multi-cabin designs on our In Development page.
Wall Paneling: Our standard interior wall finish is unfinished maple panels. We can provide pre-varnished maple paneling. The factory finishing looks good and it is a good value versus varnishing it yourself. $300 for pre-finished panels in our 16 x 20 unit.
Flooring - Our Standard floor is Prefinished Bamboo, blond or honey color. If you have another preference, we discount the flooring cost, allowing you to choose the flooring of your choice.
EXTERIOR / STRUCTURE
Siding - We offer an optional “hardy brand” cement siding. This attractive siding is fireproof, rot and mildew resistant, it is available pre-painted and lasts 50 years. Visit the links page for more information about Hardy Siding.
Windows & Doors - Our Standard windows and doors are quality aluminum units with insulated glass. You can add additional windows and doors to any design.
Metal Roof - As an alternative, we offer standing seam metal roofing. This will require a metal roof installer at assembly time.
Deck -A must-have for outdoor living. We make a quality deck. It's as easy as dropping the prefabricated panels into place and screwing them down. 15 x 8 deck in treated pine (3 modules) $1200
Insulation- Our standard insulation is R-11 fiberglass batt in our walls and floor. Our roof is insulated to R-14 with rigid ISO board. We can upgrade this to any value you require.
NORTHERN CLIMATE PACKAGE: This package includes additional insulation and additional structure for snow loading on roofs.
Our Cabins are built to accommodate the different services; however we don’t supply these items.
Air conditioning - An 8000 BTU mini-split reverse cycle AC is recommended for our smaller Cabins. We don’t provide the equipment Because of installation, service and warranty issues, its best to purchase this locally. When it needs service, you need local representation. We will reinforce the wall where the unit will hang.
Heat -For moderate climates, the reverse cycle heat pump above does a very good job. Other heat methods include baseboard heat, radiant floor heat (for concrete floors) or even a woodstove. Any system that works in a home, can work with the Cabin.
Plumbing-Our bathrooms and kitchen packages include all the fixtures needed. We have found that it’s best to have the plumbing installed by local licensed plumber. For correct installation, fixture locations are marked on the paneling.
Electric - Electric to be installed by local licensed electrician. The walls will be drilled to facilitate electric runs. The interior paneling will be pre-cut to accept electrical boxes. This prep-work will greatly reduce the work of the electrician. We provide a cutout for convenience outlets throughout the room as required.
Lighting - Our exterior lights look good, they are good quality and they are a good deal. 2 for $250
Off the Grid - We work with various companies and help you specify and choose suitable products. We then make sure that the Cabin can easily accommodate the equipment by reinforcing certain areas, building access doors and cabinets to house battery banks etc. You purchase the equipment directly.
We offer several kitchen designs with our various layouts: They all share similar quality features and design trademarks. Our Kitchens are available in 2 finish levels – Standard and Top-Line.
Below is our 10-F Kitchen for the 16 x 20 Cabin. At 10’ long, it features scaled-down full size appliances.
The clean lines of the structured white kitchen and bath cabinets contrast nicely with the natural wood.
The Cabinets can be set “European style” on tall legs as shown; this detail adds elegance.
One design accent is the stainless steel panel; it starts behind the range and continues up between the upper cabinets, providing a backdrop for the open storage there.
A generous window centered above the sink is another available option and part of the TOP-LINE kitchen.
Kitchen appliances are scaled-down, full size models. The range and refrigerator simply slide in and plug in. We don’t provide the appliances (it’s really a matter of personal choice), in addition, you will want a local dealer to provide service if you should need it.
RANGE: 20 inch wide freestanding range with an electric coil or smooth top. We suggest white or stainless steel. We like the functionality and the look of a window in the oven door.
REFRIGERATOR: We have designed the space for a 20” wide fridge. They are available in many heights, door configurations and colors. Again, it’s a matter of personal choice; we recommend going with white or stainless steel finish.
MICROWAVE / HOOD: A good place for the microwave over the range. An electrical outlet in the adjacent cabinet would conceal the cord.

WATER HEATER: We supply a “tank-less style water heater” also referred to as “on demand” water heaters. Different temperate regions have different water heating needs. Cabin Fever supplies the Titan brand water heater model #SCR2 N-64. It performs well in temperate climates.
Kitchen Cabinets
CabinFever has teamed up with Ikea USA to bring you a kitchen cabinet package that works perfectly with our snug little kitchen. We offer value and clean modern design working with this respected manufacturing partner.
We supply two 18” wide cabinets flanking the 20” range. To the right is a generous 36” sink cabinet with 2 doors swinging on European self closing hinges.
2 upper cabinets at 18” wide are located on each side of the stainless steel panel. Between the 2 cabinets are our optional floating shelves; use them for showing off your favorite kitchen wares.
Cabinets are flat packed and require assembly.

The COUNTERTOP is beautiful solid birch wood and features a solid wood backsplash. The tops are pre-cut to exactly fit the space. Just slide them in place and fasten them down with hidden screws.
The KITCHEN SINK is a self rimming, stainless steel, double bowl design. At 24” wide it is large enough to be functional, but not too big that it steals your counter space. The counter top is pre-cut; the sink drops right in.
We could include a $15 plastic KITCHEN FAUCET, but…that’s not our style. Our kitchen includes a high quality contemporary faucet, chosen to compliment the rest of the kitchen elements.
Included in the Standard Kitchen:
Everything needed to build a beautiful kitchen.
CABINETS: 3 lower cabinets and 2 upper cabinets with hardware, countertop of unfinished solid maple wood, solid maple backsplash.
FIXTURES: stainless steel sink, chrome / brass faucet, “instant hot” on-demand, tank-less water heater.
STANDARD 10-F: $2200

The bath walls extend to the ceiling for privacy. The paneling is our standard maple wood. The solid wood door is pre-hung and includes a quality lockset.

THE COMMODE is a full size, water conservation model. We provide the floor flange and everything else needed to install it.

OUR VANITY is a generous 24” wide and features mirror cabinet above.
